Hence it's advisable to rest as much as you can when you are on periods. More than resting, following a healthy diet and leading a healthy lifestyle is also important during periods.
When it comes to periods, all of us have a certain craving, and we think that eating our comfort food can make us feel better and can ease the pain. But sadly that's not true. Eating your favourite ice cream or your favourite bag of chips can worsen the pain and cause bloating. Read below to find out things that you should never do on your periods.
Don't eat salty foods:

We all have cravings during our periods, and we love to munch on those extra salty fries and chips, but we should avoid consuming them as much as we can. Munching on salty snacks can make your period symptoms worse. Salty foods contribute to the bloating/water retention that women feel around the time of their periods.
Skipping workouts:

When we get our periods, all we want to do is sleep on the couch and binge-watch our favourite shows. But doing your regular workout can help you feel better, alleviating headaches, fatigue, and even anxiety. It will help re-energize you as well as help with menstrual cramps.
Consuming dairy products:

We all love to gorge on our favourite ice cream or eat that scrumptious bowl of mac and cheese, but one should avoid consuming dairy products when on periods. We tend to be gassier when we are on our periods, and adding dairy on top of that can lead to more cramping and irritable bowels.
Drinking coffee:

When on periods, try to skip your cuppa coffee, since caffeine can worsen discomfort from cramps and bloating, as it constricts blood vessels, which is known to worsen menstrual cramps.
Wearing pad for more than 4 hours:

Sometimes due to our hectic schedule, we forget to change our pads and use the same pad for 5 to 7 hours. And if you are someone who does this, then you should stop it right away. You should be changing your pad every 3 to 4 hours to avoid an unpleasant odour, bacterial buildup - which can lead to infections.
Not getting enough sleep:

Sleeping for a good 6 to 7 hours is essential for a healthy body, but it's more important during your periods. Sleeping fewer hours than usual — can increase the stress hormone cortisol and can lead to imbalanced hormones, which can affect the severity of your periods.
