Karwa Chauth 2019: Check out THESE fasting tips for pregnant women
Karwa Chauth is an important festival for us Indian women, but pregnancy should not stop a woman from doing what she wants for her husband.
Karwa Chauth is just around the corner and everyone is busy prepping for it. It's a festival that celebrates a woman's womanhood and a marital bond. The women stay hungry and thirsty to please the Gods and pray for their husband's well being and long life. This fast starts with the sargi, which is a pre-sunrise meal that women eat. The sargi is given by the mother-in-law of a woman and it includes healthy food like fruits and dry fruits and khichdi and milk and so on. This is the only meal women eat before their fast starts and they have to go without food and water till the moonrise. But what happens when a pregnant woman wants to keep this fast.
Doctors usually recommend pregnant women to not keep this fast keeping in mind their health and their baby's health. It's essential to be careful while keeping this fast if you're pregnant because one wrong move may affect your baby. Keeping in mind the well-being of the baby, a pregnant woman must keep this fast differently if she wants to. Here are some tips to keep the Karwa Chauth fast for pregnant women.

1. Don't even think about this fast without consulting your obstetrician. You don't want this fast to complicate your pregnancy or harm you or your baby. Consult your doctor and seek his or her permission.

2. Don't give up water. Dehydration is not good for your health. Play it safe by staying hydrated. Drink milk and coconut water and juices to stay hydrated.

3. Have some milk and healthy food for your sargi. Avoid heavy and oily food. Eat more filling and healthy food that can keep your energy up the entire day.

4. If you feel the hunger pangs or start feeling dizzy, don't hold back. Eat something healthy immediately. Have a glass of milk before you eat in order to avoid acidity. Keep a bowl of fresh fruits handy for when you feel hungry or dizzy and it's not manageable.
