When it comes to blood pressure, it's divided into two types- high blood pressure and low blood pressure. High blood pressure is also known as hypertension, while low blood pressure is known as hypotension. Initially, people used to believe that blood pressure happens with age, but now with the lifestyle, we are leading and with stressful jobs that we have, blood pressure can happen to anyone, irrespective of their age. And the risks also increase if there's a family history of high BP.
Doctors determine whether or not you have blood pressure, by reading your blood pressure chart. Blood pressure categories: When it comes to readings, the blood pressure reading is divided into five categories.
Normal:

When your reading is less than 120/80 mm Hg, then that's considered normal. If your results fall into this category, stick with habits like following a balanced diet and getting regular exercise.
Elevated:

When your readings consistently range from 120-129 systolic and less than 80 mm Hg diastolic, that's considered elevated. And people with elevated blood pressure are likely to develop high blood pressure, so precaution and care should be taken if your reading is this.
Hypertension Stage 1:

When blood pressure consistently ranges from 130-139 systolic or 80-89 mm Hg diastolic, this means that everything is not normal. At this stage of high blood pressure, doctors are likely to prescribe lifestyle changes and blood pressure medication.
Hypertension Stage 2:

When blood pressure consistently ranges at 140/90 mm Hg or higher, this when you are at the danger stage. And in this case, doctors are likely to prescribe a combination of blood pressure medications and lifestyle changes.
Hypertensive crisis:

This is the last and the most dangerous stage: This stage of high blood pressure require attention immediately. If your blood pressure readings suddenly exceed 180/120 mm Hg, wait five minutes and then test your blood pressure again. If your readings are still unusually high, contact your doctor immediately.
Blood pressure is recorded in two numbers:
Systolic blood pressure: This signifies how much pressure your blood is using against your artery walls when the heartbeats.

Diastolic blood pressure: This signifies how much pressure your blood is using against your artery walls when the heart is resting between beats. It’s imperative to get your BP checked based on your readings. And following a balanced diet and exercising regularly is also necessary for people with high BP.
