Dengue fever is a flu that occurs by the bite of an Aedes mosquito. A person can get dengue within 4-14 days of the mosquito bite. Dengue fever has no prescribed medication, and hence ample amount of rest and the right diet is the only way to recover from Dengue. It is also known as the break-bone fever since it causes joint pains which makes the condition even worse.With increasing cases of dengue in town, it is very important to take effective care and preventive measures for the same. If you feel feverish, tired, and experience body pain and skin rash, then you should get tested for dengue.

If you get tested positive with dengue, here are a few foods that will help you recover from this disease at the earliest. A drop in platelet count is a characteristic symptom of dengue fever. These food items will help you to increase platelet counts and should be consumed for a speedy recovery. 

Here are the healthy diet tips for dengue patients:

Broccoli:

Platelets tend to fluctuate in Dengue, and hence broccoli should be added to your diet. Broccoli is a great source of Vitamin K, which helps to regenerate blood platelets. If there's a definite decline in the platelet count, then broccoli must be included in the daily diet of a dengue patient. 

Pomegranate:

One of the common causes of dengue is exhaustion and fatigue. Pomegranate is rich in nutrients and minerals that provide the required energy. Consumption of pomegranate reduces the feeling of exhaustion and fatigue. Being a rich source of iron, pomegranate helps in maintaining a normal blood platelet count which is essential to recover from dengue.

Spinach:

Spinach is not only a great source of fibre, but it is also a rich source of iron and omega-3 fatty acids rich food which improves the immune system. It is an effective way to increase the platelet level count.

Papaya leaves:

For dengue patients, Papaya is a must. Use papaya leaves and squeeze them to extract the juice. Its extract increases platelets counts to a great extent. It is the best home remedy for the treatment of dengue fever. 

Citrus fruits:

Coconut water:

Dengue patients should try and consume two glasses of coconut water daily for at least 2 months. Coconut water provides all the minerals and electrolytes lost by the body due to dehydration.
