As they say, you are what you eat. But that does not deter us from consuming junk food. We all deserve some pampering and when our taste buds beg for junk food, we provide them with it. You do not want to be the person denying your mind and body of what it craves. We cannot deny the relationship our diet has with our mind and our moods. The food we eat generates hormones that affect how we feel and think. Food affects our emotions and moods. Sometimes, we feel that satisfying our craving may change our mood and make us happier but that is not the case. Fast food can make things worse. Eating something unhealthy may turn your mood in the wrong direction and make life difficult for your body and mind. Junk food has a long-term effect on your mood and mind. Here are some things that can happen when you consume junk food.

1. It makes you impatient. It’s called fast food for a reason. It makes you want to hurry and that in turn makes you feel impatient and irritated.

2. It’s not uncommon to have too much sugar and end up with a sugar rush. A sugar rush makes you feel high on sugar and makes you hyperactive. After a while when your sugar rush gets over and the hyperactivity brings you down, you feel exhausted and drained. It drains your mind and body and makes you feel emotionally drained and fatigued.

3. Unhealthy junk food puts you at a higher risk of depression. It may seem like comfort food but it does not really work that way. Those pizzas and burgers can make you more prone to depression.

4. It can make you extremely anxious and lead to an anxiety disorder. The carbohydrates in junk food can cause fluctuations in your blood sugar levels which in turn cause anxiety problems like anxiety attacks, mood swings, panic attacks and much more. It puts you on the edge and increases your stress level too.

5. Eating too much junk food can make you vulnerable to an eating disorder. Just because it’s known as comfort food you try to comfort your mind with it, but doing so regularly may make things much worse. You will get into the bad habit of turning to food for every problem and overeating can make your mood much worse. You will be trying to fix something but every bite you take will make it much worse.
