Celebrity holistic nutritionist Luke Coutinho has the answers we've all been looking for. Luke practices, alternative medicine and holistic nutrition. He has co-authored the book 'The Great Indian Diet' along with Shilpa Shetty and has worked on fitness and health with other well know stars like Emraan Hashmi, Lara Dutta and many more. 

While chatting with him about weight loss and the link it has with depression, I discovered several truths about this vastly discussed yet little-understood subject. 

In today's day and age, where most things revolve around the way that one looks, weight loss has almost become a 'trend' and if you're not in style, you're driven into believing that you're suffering from an existential crisis.

Most people, especially women, suffer from acute depression and low self-esteem because to them, they're not an "ideal" size zero and can't fathom a logical solution for the same. They've gone on crash diets, they've starved themselves, they've worked out till the cows came home, but yet, they're unable to get the results they want. Why? Simply because they're blindly following the crowd without understanding that each body is different and not all bodies react in a similar fashion to a particular diet or exercise regime. 

According to Luke, one needs to "work with the mind to change your relationship with your body." He adds, "The people who only focus on weight loss are the people who struggle the most." He believes that for permanent, healthy changes, one needs to look at their lives holistically and change their lifestyle and work on their immunity.
