Monsoons are the most love season. The scent of wet mud and the sound of a raindrop hitting the ground or even the sound of raindrops hitting the window and all joy of having a cup of warm tea and some pakoras while it rains cats and dogs outside is the best feeling ever. But that’s not how monsoon really hits us. We love it the first few times it rains because those light spells of rain don’t bother us. But when you have to live and go to work the entire time it rains it can be very tiring. You can’t stop going to work because it’s monsoon! Monsoon can be a little scary too. While you try to get to work don’t be surprised if you end up getting there all wet and sticky and spend the rest of the day shivering and when the day ends, you’ll be sneezing. Moreover, the accident rates increase during the monsoon season. It’s essential to travel safely when you’re trying to get to work ASAP on a very rainy day.

1. Avoid going anywhere on a two-wheeler. Due to the rains, the roads are slippery and the oil and grease that drops on the roads has made it even worse. A two-wheeler can get you to places much faster but it can also be dangerous and you risk a scary accident.

2. Always carry a safety kit when you go out. A high capacity power bank and a torch and a small first aid kit. Also, don’t forget to carry a bottle of water and a packet to keep all these things protected from the water. A waterproof pouch for your phone is also essential.

3. Keep a jacket and a small towel and an extra set of clothes at work. Always keep a pair in case of an emergency.

4. Don’t push things. If getting to work becomes much more difficult, it’s better to avoid it. Don’t be afraid to take a day off work if you’re unable to get to work due to waterlogging and traffic.

5. Don’t wear your office shoes or heels when you’re traveling to work. They have a lesser grip and tend to slip more easily. Try to wear good rainy footwear with a good grip.

6. Don’t try to push your way into the local train or hang outside. It may be more dangerous during the monsoon. You could slip or come in sudden contact with a live wire.

7. Switch off all the light switches and take the connection out of the socket. Also, check your home and places near your home for a live wire. If you find some, try to get rid of it and sort it out before an accident takes place.
