Summer calls for some stimulating food and drinks. Here is the list of the fruits and food items which will make your summer cooler and happier!
Summer is not far away. Are you ready with your breezy cotton clothes, sunglasses and lotions? But more than anything, are you ready for summer food? There are certain seasonal items which are available at only a particular time of the year whereas there are some which you may get all round, but taste the best in summer. Your summer is quite incomplete if you haven't had these foods to drive the heat away.
Watermelons
Watermelons are 90% water. They are also capable of protecting your skin from sun damage as they contain lycopene. It will also keep you cool and hydrated throughout summer. Not to forget the awesome sweet taste watermelons have!
Corn
Corn contains lutein and zeaxanthin, which protect you from ultraviolet rays. Corns are also absolute delights to have. Have them simply with butter and salt or go out to the streets where they rub the corn bobs with a spicy masala.
Avocado
Avocado is basically a summer blessing. It serves a lot of functions like improving digestion, preventing osteoarthritis, reducing depression, reducing cholestrol, etc. It also contains folate, vitamin K, E, B6, C and copper.

There is nothing which cools you down like yogurt. It is also rich in protein which is why it will keep you full along with the fact that it is super good for the digestive system. Add some jazz and have fruit, flavoured or frozen yogurt.

Coconut water is refreshing and carries a number of nutritional benefits. Containing electrolytes that make it an excellent cooling drink, it also helps to reduce the blood pressure level, provide anti-aging properties and acts as a natural diuretic.
Cucumbers
Cucumbers are great for the skin, hair and keeps your body clean by removing toxins. They are also great for heart health due to immune boosting and anti-inflammatory effects. Not to forget, cucumbers drizzled with salt or red chilli masala are toothsome!
Lemon Water
Last but not the least, lime water is pretty much the saviour for hot days. It is easily available on the streets and is rejuvenating, delicious and very inexpensive. Make sure you have it icy with the correct salts!
