Korigad Fort
This place is a decent drive from Mumbai. The trekking up till the fort is not at all taxing and one can climb up in a comfortable space. It takes about an hour, hour and a half to get on the top and an hour to trek down. The view from the top will connect you more with the nature and melt your hearts.
Tandulwadi Fort
This one is a bit of a task. Tandulwadi is not as simple as the Korigad Fort trek. The trees are so dense that one can easily get lost as they cant even see 10 feet ahead of them. The fort is situated near Thane, so it’s a fairly easily drive till your destination. It takes about two hours on the top and one hour to descend.

Rajmachi
One of the most popular treks amongst Mumbaikars, you have to visit Rajmachi once in the monsoons. There are two forts at Rajmachi and the way upwards is also fairly easy, which makes it a great deal for beginners. The view from the top is said to be extremely beautiful as it shows the entire valley and the lush greens.
Kalsubai Peak
Known as the “Everest of Maharashtra” this place is a must visit. It is the highest peak in the Sahyadri mountains and the view from there is phenomenal. The drive from Mumbai is approximately 3 hours. The trek is quite difficult as the way up is steep.

Sanjay Gandhi National Park
This one is for all the lazy ones who do not wish to travel a lot. Drive to Sanjay Gandhi National Park and trk over till the Kanheri Caves. The trek is of a mediocre difficulty level but the view once you get on the top is gorgeous. You can literally see the whole of Mumbai being covered in clouds and this image will be etched in your memory for life.
Tikona Fort
This triangular fort can become of your favourite treks because of the challenges it throws at you. All in all you’ll need about two hours to get to the top and two hours to get down. You can start off your trek from the Tikona Peth in Kamseth.

Mahuli Fort
Two hours away from Mumbai. The Mahuli Fort trek dwindles from easy to moderate level of difficulty. The local temple serves as the starting point of the trek. The view from here is spectacular as you can see the hills and villages around it. It is also the highest point in the district of Thane.
