Love Starbucks and cannot go there every other day? Here is how you can make Starbucks drinks at your home

Starbucks is one of the best cafes around. Their international status and classy vibe add to the appeal. However, the coffee is often said to be overpriced and Starbucks outlets still aren't everywhere in the country. The good news though is that all these drinks can be recreated at home, albeit with a little effort. So get started with your own Starbucks type home-brewed drinks.

Starbucks Coffee:

1. The first thing to do is to be aware that a lot of details go into the coffee at Starbucks. They are particular about the right proportion of coffee to water. They use two tsp or ten Gms of ground coffee for every six ounces of water.

2. Instead of buying pre-ground coffee, grind your own coffee beans. Make sure to use a good grinding method. Use fresh coffee. Do not keep it in freezers or airtight containers as it takes away the flavour.

3. Another tip is to use fresh water filtered of all impurities. Heat the water just 'off-boil', between 195 and 205 degrees Fahrenheit or 90 to 96 degrees Celcius.

4. Starbucks traditionally uses three general methods of brewing. Choose the one that works for you. These are coffee press, traditional drip coffee and pour over, which can either be hot or iced. The first two methods involve the coffee press and drip machines.

Then there is the pour over the method which goes somewhat like this:

Boil the water according to the ideal ration mentioned above. Once you've boiled your water and pre-moistened your filter, grind your coffee using a fine grind, like that used in cone-shaped filters. It should resemble granulated sugar. Once you've got your coffee measured out and sitting in your filter, pour your hot water over the grounds, but pause when you've filled it half-way. This allows the coffee to be fully and even saturated, developing flavour. After your pause, pour over the rest, going in small circles to distribute the water evenly. It should take about three minutes for your cup to be finished brewing. To make iced coffee, just pour your brew over fresh ice, let it chill, and serve.

5. Now serve yourself the coffee. You can add artificial sweeteners or any flavours according to your taste. Ideally, pick up sugar or flavour packets from Starbucks. For best results, use all equipment and ingredients from Starbucks.

6. Add a bit of milk or creamer as per your preference and mix. Your coffee is good to go! Ignore the last step if you want black coffee.

Classic Mocha Frappuccino:

Ingredients:

2 shots espresso, chilled OR 1/3 cup (80 ml) strongly brewed coffee

⅓ cup (80 ml) milk

1 tablespoon (8.3 g) granulated sugar

1 cup (217 g) ice cubes

2 tablespoons (30 ml) chocolate syrup

Whipped cream to serve

Chocolate syrup to serve

1. Chill two shots of espresso or 1/3 cup (80 ml) of strong coffee until it's cold. Pour this into a blender and add 1 cup (217 g) of ice cubes. Put the lid on the blender and pulse the mixture until the ice is crushed.

2. Take the lid off and pour in cup (80 ml) of milk, 1 tablespoon (8.3 g) of granulated sugar, and 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of chocolate syrup. Use chocolate milk for a sweeter drink.

3. Put the lid back on the blender and blend the frappuccino for 30 seconds. The resulting drink would be smooth and creamy. Garnish the drink with whipped cream, chocolate chips, choco flakes or cocoa powder.

Javachip Frappuccino:

Ingredients:

4 tablespoons chocolate syrup plus extra for drizzle (optional)

4-5 tablespoons chocolate chunks

4 cups double-strength freshly brewed dark roast coffee.

Crushed ice

Whipped cream (optional)

Caramel syrup if you want Frappuccino caramel

Milk if you want it to be a little bit creamy

1. Fill your blender with ice halfway. Add chocolate chips, chocolate syrup, and cooled-off coffee, or milk for the creamier version. Turn the blender on at a medium speed for a thick but icy mixture.

2. Pour the mixture into glasses. Cover the top with whipped cream and drizzle it with some chocolate syrup.
