From chocolates to sweets and chips, you want it all and honestly, the hormones are to be blamed for it, specifically cortisol and serotonin. Cortisol is a stress hormone that rises during your period so another calming hormone serotonin usually tends to dip. This chemical reaction makes you feel hungry for all kinds of foods - sweet and savoury. So if you are someone who is watching their weight or just trying to be healthy, this period of time is the worst for cravings. So, here are some easy ways to satisfy those craving while also outsmarting it with easy tricks.
1. Eat a protein-rich breakfast
Eating a breakfast filled with protein can help stabilize blood sugar levels and keep you feeling more satisfied. From yoghurt to fruits and nuts, everything will keep you satisfied for long periods of time.

2. Hunger is the culprit
Do not keep your stomach empty for your long time. The more you are hungry the more your cravings will take over. Eat a snack or a meal every three hours so you are not hungry for your cravings to take over.
3. Just give in! (to low-calorie options)
We know that your brain is thinking that, ‘WTH, just give in, it’s only a week’. Well, we are definitely with you. But, always opt for low-calorie options. Fill up your pantry way before your period so that you have everything stocked for the big week.

4. Beat bloating
We know that ice cream is the best way to curb period cravings, however before you go for something cold, fill up your stomach with a hot beverage or soup. This will help in reducing the bloating and in turn fight with lethargy.
5. Reduce caffeine
Caffeine spikes cortisol, the hormone that increases cravings so reducing it helps, once again, with your cravings. If you are an avid caffeine consumer, just try and reduce it because leaving it completely will increase moodiness and fatigue.
