Easter 2017 - 6 DIY super cute Easter basket ideas
Think out of the box and make your basket 'eggstraw' special!
In India, Easter isn't as celebrated as it is in the West. It is probably one of the most underrated holidays and it's not surprising that some of the few who celebrate it, don't really know why it's celebrated. Well, before I get to the fun part, let me quickly tell you what Easter is about.
The holiday celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ after his crucifixion. Christians believe Jesus was crucified on Good Friday and rose again three days later, the third day, Sunday. This day is called 'Easter'. Easter-eggs are distributed and made on this day because eggs are seen as a symbol of Spring, a celebration of the rebirth and reinvigoration after the harshness of winter. It is symbolic of new life.
Now, coming to the exciting part, for those of you who are well aware of Easter celebrations and practice the tradition of distributing Easter-eggs to your loved ones, we've got just the right thing for you. If your tired of the usual boring baskets available in stores and want to try some DIY baskets this year, we've got the perfect hack.
Here are multiple ideas for an out-of-the-box Easter basket ...
1. Replace the typical Easter basket with a small canvas storage container or a mini bucket and wrap it in jute. This will add an earthy feel to your basket and also, the 'basket' can be put to use later.
2. Pile all the goodies you've collected into a mini colourful backpack or cute pouch and place it in a bright coloured basket. Again, the pouch can be put to use later.
3. Paint an old paint can whatever colour you desire and make cool designs on the can. This idea is perfect for anyone with a creative edge.
4. Mason jars and chocolate! Yes, you read that right. Fill up a mason jar with all kinds of chocolate and make turn this tradition into one big delicious treat!
5. For an adult Easter box, spray paint an old wooden crate in your desired color. Let it dry and attach a cute banner to the front. To make the banner, cut triangles from black cardstock or scrapbook paper, and write a letter on each triangle using a chalkboard pen. Glue the pennants to a strand of twine, and tie or glue the twine ends to the crate. Fill the box with gifts like wine, glasses and chocolate to give to friends and neighbors.
6. Glitter fruit/egg boxes are a great idea and they look super pretty. Transform one such box from the grocery store into sparkly decor. Apply glue to the top edges of each box, and sprinkle glitter on top. Shake the box to remove excess glitter, and let dry. Place the glittered boxes in a cluster as a centerpiece, or attach a ribbon handle to make a cute basket.
So whether you celebrate Easter every year or it's the first time you want to try something new, we hope these easy tricks will help you create a fun and interesting Easter basket for your friends and family. Don't forget to fill them up with yummy chocolate goodies and treats. Have a blessed Easter, everyone!
