Laws are implemented by the state to ensure the protection of its citizens but sometimes not really so. In this list, we have collected a few hilarious, weird and downright unnecessary laws that exist in some countries. So, if your next travel destination is on this list, make sure you don’t break any laws while visiting!
No flushing after 10 PM

When in Switzerland, attend nature’s call not after 10 PM. Switzerland prohibits flushing of toilets after 10 at night as it’s considered to contribute to noise pollution! Remember to eat healthy in Switzerland because you can’t afford to have an upset tummy!
No chewing gum

Do not visit Singapore if you are a fan of chewing gum! Singapore banned possession and consumption of chewing gum in 1992 and the law still remains. Although you may be excused if you can prove that chewing gum is a part of your prescribed medication!
No peeing in the ocean

What most of us consider natural and almost uncontrollable, Portugal considers it as a crime. Peeing in an ocean is a crime in Portugal which may invite a fine or a warning. However, we are not quite sure how one catches a culprit!
Obesity is a crime

The consequences of being overweight and obesity is a hotly debated topic, but Japan doesn’t seem to care much for it. The country has made obesity illegal where the maximum waistline permitted to men is 33.5 inches and 35 inches to women!
No killing bigfoot

Yes, you read that right! While none of us know if bigfoot, or for that matter any mythological character actually exists, British Columbia has prohibited the killing of Bigfoot nonetheless. You may be free to murder other mythological creatures though!
No feather mattresses allowed

Argentina has banned feather mattresses for it is believed that the more comfortable mattress is, the more likely it is to lead to “immoral feelings”. However, mattresses made of other materials are completely fine.
