Monsoon is a great season to just spend time with friends and family. We all love going out and getting wet in the rain once in a while. And when hunger strikes, we turn to the street food because who doesn’t love it, right? We just can’t stop eating those roadside delicacies. We just seem to lose all control when we see those stalls full of mouth-watering food. But the weather just makes us want it much more. After all, there’s nothing better than a warm cup of masala chai and some street food to go along with the weather. This street food may cause some trouble with your body and health if you’re not careful. Monsoon is the time when bacteria and germs grow rapidly and street food could make you sick and create havoc in your body. Here is why you should avoid street food to protect your body this season.

1. It contains a lot of oil and spices and during moist and humid weather like the monsoon, it’s better to avoid anything that can irritate your stomach. Unhealthy oil and too many spices can cause indigestion and make you sick.

2. The ingredients and food from stalls are cooked and kept out in the open. With germs and bacteria multiplying and growing so fast, chances are that your food already has too many germs and may lead to an infection. This food may be infested with germs and bacteria due to the humidity.

3. You do not know where the water, used for the food, comes from. It may not be as clean and safe as you expect. On normal days, your body can adjust but monsoon is the time when germs and bacteria rejoice and grow. This water may be contaminated and lead to an infection.

4. The stalls are usually very close to the roads or drains. The food from these stalls is exposed to pollution from the road. Because it is also close to places where there may be water where mosquitoes and germs are breeding, it could make you sick. Mosquitoes can easily transfer germs and bacteria when they sit on food and this could cause more trouble for your stomach.
