The best thing about celebrations is cake! Whatever the occassion may be - a birthday, an anniversary, a baby shower or any achievement, there's always got to be cake. While finishing an entire one is childs play for some with a blessed apetite, the rest of us eat a slice or two each and once everyone's had their share, we refrigerate it for three to four days.

Now for those of you who can't go through life without dessert and have a big sweet tooth, we've come up with some exciting ideas for what you can create from any leftover cake in your fridge!
Here are 5 easy-peasy ways to whip up some super yummy desserts in a jiffy...

1. Cake-ice-cream-sundae

Cut a fairly big slice of cake into smaller cubes and put in a cup. Add a scoop of vanilla or chocolate ice cream on top. Add some warm chocolate sauce on top and sprinkle with some crushed gems. Your cake-scream-sundae is ready to enjoy!

2. Brownie-blend milkshake

Add a chunk of cake, some milk and one scoop of ice cream into a blender. Blend well and pour into a tall glass. Top it up with whatever you like (Another scoop of ice cream, some chocolate sauce or some marshmellows) and  tadaa! We have a winner.... Enjoy your shake with a straw.

3. Grilled cake

You typically think of meat and savories when you think of grilling. But guess what? You can grill cake slices! Like toasting bread, grilling the cake helps bring out the flavor, so that slight staleness  will go away. Grilled cake is particularly enjoyable when served with a scoop of ice cream and fresh fruit.

4. Cake-pops

Cake pops are a super fun and yummy dessert to make and share with your friends and family. Typically they are made by crumbling cake with buttercream or cream cheese, which makes it into a malleable, moldable mixture. The mixture is formed into little balls, which are then coated with candy or chocolate coating. The coating seals in the moisture, making the cake taste like new again. Mmm..so good!

5. Cake Trifle

Combine your leftover cake with layers of custard, whipped cream, jelly and fresh fruit. You can experiment according to your likes and dislikes. For example, a rich chocolate cake could be matched with chocolate custard or mousse, some pitted cherries and a topping of whipped cream.

So now you know, the next time you're in the mood to whip up a storm in the kitchen and want to indulge in some absolutely yummy desserts, you don't have to worry about it being a long drawn process. With these recipes, creating sweet dishes will be a piece of cake. Literally!
