Who has been your most special bride till date?
I think every bride is special in their own way, me as a bride, my sister in law, my sister as a bride. I think for me it’s more about the family. I think there are a lot of on screen brides like I remember I think it was Julia Roberts in a film that just stayed with me.
One thing a bride should never do on her big day?
One thing a bride should never do on her big day is, try something very experimental with her look. She shouldn’t suddenly try curly hair if she’s always worn straight hair. She shouldn’t suddenly wear a big dark mouth if she’s never done that before; she should stay true to who she is.
How are millennial brides different from the ones we had 10-20 years back?
I think millennial brides are different in the sense that they don’t want the weight of their clothes. They realise the importance of their personality shining through, compared to just the clothes. They prefer lighter lehengas, lighter sarees much more as their personality comes through.
Since Destination Weddings are so IN what should guests pack up so there’s no excess baggage at the airport, like the essential ones?
Well, luckily for people having destination weddings, all the bridal clothes have become lighter. They still may look heavy, but they are very light in weight. I also think it’s important for a destination wedding to be true to the destination. Having a beach destination your look should be more beachy. If you’re going to have a mountain wedding or a palace wedding it could be heavier and more nuanced.
Who would be that one Bollywood bride who you would want to doll up for her big day?
I’d be happy to deck up any girl that is a bride, I love weddings and I love dressing up brides.
Apart from the wedding lehenga what is that one striking feature that draws your attention in a bride?
I think for me it’s the combination of the jewellery and the lehenga that is important. Actually, to show how much restraint a bride has shown if she wears all the jewellery that she owns. I don’t like that, I feel there needs to be a balance between how much jewellery you wear with the outfit corresponding to that. So, I like to see how much restraint a bride has shown.
One safe hair tip and makeup style for somebody who’s in a fix?
I feel the safe hair tip for all brides is to let yourself look like yourself. If you’re someone who normally wears a blow-dry simple look, do the same for your wedding. Don’t try and do something complicated, it’s not important, you have to look your best self so it’s important that you look like yourself.
If a bride wants to elope then what should be her must- haves?
Oh dear! Nice underwear, perfume, toothbrush toothpaste and a pretty saree which she can just drape on!
