Weddings are something we all can't get enough of. The bright colours, the beautiful decor, the happy mood and most of all the gorgeous outfits. When you think of wedding outfits, the first thought that comes to mind is red. The quintessential red lehenga is charming and perfect for ever Indian bride. But with every bride from Deepika Padukone to Priyanka Chopra wearing the same colour, it has become a cliche - so much so that brides who don't wear red become newsmakers and rule breakers!

But what's the harm in breaking a few rules and conventional barriers and picking a colour that probably flatters the bride more than red does? And who better than celebrities can we look up to, for such inspiration to set new trends?

Neha Dhupia

The true-blue fashionista broke many norms when she married beau Angad Bedi in a private affair. One of them was the colour of her outfit. For her big day, Neha sported a blush pink lehenga by Anita Dongre with jewellery that complimented her outfit. Unlike most brides, she also opted for a more natural look and wore minimal makeup but still looked radiant.

Anushka Sharma

One of the most talked about weddings of 2017, this wedding gave us all some serious goals. Anushka walked down the isle looking divine in a pastel pink lehenga with beautiful floral motifs, designed by Sabyasachi Mukherjee. Despite there being no sight of red in her outfit, Anushka still looked like a princess bride in her outfit.

Amrita Puri

Another Sabyasachi bride who broke the rules, Amrita Puri stunend in a light grey lehenga at her wedding with Imrun Sethi. The extravagant customised outfit had a hundred and eleven colourful silk threads sewn into it to create panels of a Persian documentary that the couple watched into the lehenga. The only red in her outfit was that of her chooda.

Mira Rajput

This unconventional bride sported one of the most understated wedding looks ever! She opted for a pale pink bedazzled Anamika Khanna lehenga and played by her own rules for her big day! Her muted colour palette was refreshing, and she even opted for very simple makeup and hair for her big day. What a way to make a mark on the industry!

Soha Ali Khan

This princess looked nothing short of royalty despite not picking a bright red lehenga for her big day. Her outfit was all gold and by none other than Sabysachi Mukherjee (a favourite). She looked like a million bucks on her wedding day with a tinge of orange (kesariya) that her mother Sharmila Tagore insited on adding.

Kareena Kapoor Khan

We are not surprised to see Bebo on this list. A true blue rebel, the Begum of Bollywood opted for a bright orange lehenga (which was her mother-in-law Sharmila Tagore's revamped sharara) to tie the knot with Saif Ali Khan. She looked nothing short of royalty and exuded grandeur in this outfit that had a teal green border.

Asin Thottumkal

This actress broke all norms by sporting a shade that is frowned upon at most Indian weddings - ivory. The bride rocked the unconventional choice with a burgundy border from wedding designer Sabysachi Mukherjee's creations. She looked nothing short of stunning in this outfit.

Some other brides who ditched the red were Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who opted for gold, Dia Mirza and Kajol who opted for green and Gul Panag who donned a bright pink lehenga, for their biggest days. Breaking the norms comes with some serious perks we think!

Who do you think looked rocked the non-red bridal lehenga the best? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
