Serena Williams's 3 month old daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. becomes Vogue's youngest ever cover star

U.S. Vogue’s February cover is out and it was a surprise revealed that brought an instant smile on everyone’s face. The cover shot by the iconic photographer Mario Testino had mother-daughter duo, Serena Williams and her 3 months old daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. Olympia is the youngest ever Vogue cover star.

The cover features a very beatific Serena in a red strappy inverted heart neckline bodycon dress, holding the very petite and adorable looking Olympia in a white bodysuit, giving out a clueless yet feeling safe in her mother’s arms sort of an expression. One cannot simply miss the huge rock on Selena’s ring finger and how she has closely held her bundle of with one hand, guarding her close.

In the issue, Serena talks in depth about the difficulties she faced post her pregnancy and serious health problems. The tennis star had to undergo an emergency C-section because of Olympia’s dropping heart-rate. The 36 year old mother was short of breath and went in for a CT scan in which she found blood clots in her lungs. Later on, her C-section scar opened up because of an intense coughing spell. Doctors discovered that a hematoma (solid swelling of clotted blood) had been formed in her abdomen as they were closing the opened surgery wound.

The mother of 1 was bedridden for six weeks after the baby’s birth. She opened up about the turmoil and told the magazine, "Sometimes I get really down and feel like, Man, I can’t do this,". It’s that same negative attitude I have on the court sometimes. I guess that’s just who I am. No one talks about the low moments -- the pressure you feel, the incredible letdown every time you hear the baby cry. I’ve broken down I don’t know how many times. Or I’ll get angry about the crying, then sad about being angry, and then guilty, like, Why do I feel so sad when I have a beautiful baby? The emotions are insane."

She is however, extremely happy that she is blessed with a daughter, she said, ““I’m so glad I had a daughter. I want to teach her that there are no limits.”

Serena also had a funny take on the gender bias situation, and also seemed to be annoyed with Roger Federer, she said, ““It’s so unfair! He produced four babies and barely missed a tournament.”

The tennis superstar recently tied the knot with her fiance, Reddit co-founder, Alexis Ohanian, 34, in a breathtakingly beautiful wedding ceremony in New Orleans in 2017. Apart from the 250 guests that attended their alliance, the most valued guest of their Beauty and the Beast themed wedding was their 11 weeks old daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr.
