Kate was going through depression and now her titular brand is working towards creating awareness following her death. The fashion company now plans to donate more than a $1 million to create mental health awareness and suicide prevention; beginning with $250,000 to the Crisis Text Line. The line connects individuals to a live counsellor who can provide them with real help.
In an Instagram post, the brand announced that public donations can also be made to the Line between June 20 to June 29 of up to $100,000. Anna Bakst, CEO of Kate Spade New York made a statement to a leading website saying, “Mental illness does not discriminate; it is complicated and difficult to diagnose and can often be life-threatening. We hope that our support will shed even more light on the disease and encourage those who suffer from mental health issues to seek help. Collectively, we must all do more."
