The Pinkvilla Fashion Review: Rangoon
Rangoon, which is set in the 1940's when India was under the British Raj has curated looks which are highly influenced by the British Culture and fashion and we aren't complaining. From Saif Ali Khan's debonair suits and jackets to Kangana Ranaut's classic gowns and dresses, Rangoon's fashion has it all. Kangana really proves that she is truly the Audrey Hepburn of India with her classic sense of style and fashion. Though the movie is set in the 40's the trends are still very relevant, so much so that Kangana in the climax is seen wearing a corset belt over a shirt which is an enormous trend and ruling the fashion world in 2017. Watch this video for all the scoop on the fashion and styles in the movie, looks that you should spot and trends that you should try.
Rangoon is set in the 1940's India's pre-independence era, therefore, the fashion of the movie is highly influenced by the British culture. The lead protagonists of the movie are dressed very-very "Brit and English''
Shahid Kapoor plays the role Jamadaar Nawab Malik an army man, who looks handsome and oozes testosterone in his masculine moustache. Shahid, however, is wearing only his uniform throughout the movie.
Kangana, who plays the role of a fierce actress Julia, looks like a dream in her Audrey Hepburn-ish outfit. At a fancy cocktail party, Kangana is seen wearing an exquisite ivory strapless gown. She paired the look with a statement neck-piece to highlight her décolleté and wore her hair in fancy updo along with a hair brooch. Of course, no English style cocktail party is completed without a lady in her white gloves. Diamond earrings and a red pout completed the look!

Her other looks included floral midi dresses with elaborate sleeves and all of her dresses are very flowy and feminine. She has paired her looks with dainty jewellery, fancy hats and sunglasses. For hair and makeup, she is seen wearing a fresh face of makeup with red lips and her hair in short outward curls.

Saif Ali Khan plays the role of Russi Billimoria- a rich and powerful movie producer and he has definitely dressed the part. To sum up. Saif Ali Khan's look in 3 words it is - refined, polished and elegant.
Saif is dressed like every classic girl wants their boyfriend to dress like! In three-piece-suits and tuxedoes with pocket squares, ironed and tailored to the T, Saif looks debonair and dapper. Saif Ali Khan's inherent nawabi swag just adds so much more to the appearances.
Saif is also seen wearing, jackets over shirts, polo t-shirts, pin striped double breasted suits, polka dot printed thin ties and pocket squares, flowers or sunglasses to accessorise.

In the climax where Saif looks very-very hot, he is seen wearing and black corduroy shirt with khaki pants. He left the shirt's button open and sleeve rolled up.
The outfits in the movies are so classic they can never go out of fashion. Every piece of clothing worn by Saif and Kangana is still relevant and in vogue. So much so that in the Climax, Kangana is seen wearing a white shirt with a corset belt and corset belts are an enormous trend in 2017.
The costumes of the movie are curated with so much thought and affection that it's hard not to fall in love with them!
Hence, on our fashion review meter, we would give this movie an 87%
