Popular British-Srilankan, singer-songwriter Arjun (@arjunartist) met with @PinkvillaUSA to discuss his career, his journey to incredible success, and his plans for the future. In an exclusive chat, Arjun told us his first tryst with music and how he developed a passion for it, enough for him to make a successful career out of it. He also mentioned why he loves to be an influencer with loyal South Asian fans. Talking about the challenges in this kind of career, Arjun said, "Your whole career is determined by how trending you are. You can get caught up in the likes, comments, and views, etc. As an artist, you got to preserve that feeling, as to be proud of what you create. Balance who you are as an artist and also be on top of the game."

Arjun added, "It's a very fickle industry. In the mainstream industry, it's like they have one big hit and then we don't hear about them again. The beauty of our industry is that we have loyal fans. South Asian fanbase buy into you as a  person, even if the songs are not good they might still love you for you, as a brand, and that is the advantage of being South Asian."

When asked what is the most rewarding part of being an artist, he said, "It is touring the world. I was blessed to see, every place, basically wherever Indians are. I love to meet people. When you are on tour you meet fans in real life, from different backgrounds, and meet people and learn about what they are into."

When asked why he was into music at all, Arjun said, "It is a funny story. When I was a kid I was in a rock band when I was 14 years old. I used to spray my hair pink. I was in a band with 4 English guys. I was this small Asian kid and I was in a band with those 4 white guys and we used to play rock music. We used to do shows. My parents were like, what have we done with his child? We used to do small gigs in pubs, and small open mike events. That is where it all started."
