Kollywood film industry has lost the legendary film-maker J Mahendran. The veteran actor passed away on Tuesday morning, April 2 at his residence in Chennai. Fans and celebrities are mourning the passing away of the legendary film-maker. AR Murugadoss took to Twitter and paid his final respects to the Tamil director. Superstar Rajinikanth also paid a visit to J Mahendran residence in Chennai. One can see in the photos, Rajinikanth meets Mahendran's family as he visits to pay the final respect to his close friend and director of the Tamil film industry.
Not many know, J Mahendran's directorial venture 'Mullum Malarum' made Rajinikanth the Superstar that he is today. Meanwhile, according to media reports, Mahendran's body will be kept for the public homage at his residence in Chennai and the final rites of the veteran will be performed at 5 PM. Director's son John Mahendran announced the news about director passing away on Twitter and wrote as, "DIRECTOR MAHENDRAN PASSED AWAY THIS MORNING.
J Mahendran has also appeared as an actor in a few films, last being Rajinikanth's Petta. He also played the role of a villain in Vijay’s Theri and the film won him the Best Villain Award at IIFA Utsavam in 2017. He was also seen in Vijay Sethupathi’s 'Seethakaathi' playing a small role.
