Rajinikanth's co star and Tamil filmmaker J Mahendran passes away; AR Murugadoss & other celebs pay condolence
Fans and celebrities are also mourning the passing of this legendary filmmaker J Mahendran. The director was last seen on the big screen in Rajinikanth's Petta.
Veteran Tamil filmmaker, J Mahendran left for heavenly abode on Tuesday, April 2 at his residence in Chennai. The director was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Chennai last week after his health became critical. According to media reports, Mahendran's body will be kept for the public homage and the final rites of the veteran will be performed at 5 PM. Director's son John Mahendran announced the news about director passing away on Twitter and wrote as, "DIRECTOR MAHENDRAN PASSED AWAY THIS MORNING.
Fans are also mourning the passing of this legendary filmmaker. AR Murugadoss took to twitter and paid final respect to the Tamil director. He tweeted, "It is deeply saddening to hear the demise of one of the pioneer filmmaker #Mahendran sir. You and your films live forever in our hearts sir. Rest in peace." Director Ahmed also tweeted, "Deeply saddened to hear this..RIP #Mahendran sir. Rest in peace." Well, the Kollywood industry has lost a talented actor and director. J Mahendran was last seen on the big screen in Rajinikanth’s Petta, which was a huge hit at the box office.
Born in 1939, J Mahendran made an immediate impact with his first directional venture Mullum Malarum which released in 1978. Mullum Malarum starred Rajinikanth and Sarath Babu, Fatafat Jayalaxmi and Shobha.
