Sonali Bendre returned to Mumbai a few weeks ago after undergoing treatment for cancer in New York City for five months. The actress had shared on Instagram that she has been diagnosed with a high grade cancer that has metastised in July. Sonali had shared that a niggling pain led to an unexpected diagnosis. Sonali is back in Mumbai for a ‘happy interval’. Throughout her treatment in New York, Sonali shared uplifting and positive posts on Instagram. Before heading to Mumbai, she had written about coming home, where her heart is.

Sonali took to her Instagram account to share a photo with her son, Ranveer. Sonali had shared that it was difficult to tell her son about her diagnosis but they were open and honest with him. “As much as we wanted to protect him, we knew it was important to tell him the full facts. We’ve always been open and honest with him and this time it wasn’t going to be different. He took the news so maturely… and instantly became a source of strength and positivity for me. In some situations now, he even reverses roles and takes on being the parent, reminding me of things I need to do!,” she had penned.

As we come close to the end of another year, it's amazing to see how much this book club has grown and how I can see tangible effects. After my son hosted his first SBC Live, he's become more enthusiastic about reading, so much so that he has now recommended a book for us! So the next book for #SBC is Half Brother by @kenneth.oppel. I'm really excited as it's the first mom-son collaboration on the book club, and I'm looking forward to exploring this book with you all! #TheFamilyThatReadsTogether #SonalisBookClub @sonalisbookclub

In an earlier post, she shared that the fight with cancer is not over yet but she is looking forward to a happy interval. She also shared that now there will be a new normal for her and she is looking forward to embracing it.
