National Film Awards: Akshay Kumar takes wife Twinkle Khanna and son Aarav to the ceremony
Today, Akshay Kumar will be receiving the National award for his performance in Rustom.
Finally, that proud moment has come when Akshay Kumar will be given the National award for his performance in Rustom. Today, Akshay has taken his wife Twinkle Khanna and son Aarav for the event.
For the BIG day, Akshay chose to wear a black bandh gala with a fuchsia pink pocket square. Twinkle looked pretty in her silk checkered saree with a patterned pallu. Complimenting her saree was the low bun with gajra. She accessorized her attire with a gold kadha in one hand, a bracelet and ring in another along with jhumkas. Aarav was seen wearing a cream coloured striped Nehru collared kurta.
In an interview with a leading daily, Akshay said, "It is great news. National Film awards are the most prestigious awards in the country. It is a moment of pride for sure. The first reaction, honestly, was if this was a late April Fool’s joke (laughs)! Actually, I am still trying to process this win, it is a mix of many emotions - surprise, happiness and, most prominently, gratitude to the jury, makers of the film, my parents and of course the beloved fans."
He also added, "Itna keh sakta hun mai ki ye award bhi maine imandari se jita hai. Maine aaj tak cheating nahi ki. Neither have I ever made a call to anyone to win an award nor have given money or done favours for it."
2016 belonged to Akshay Kumar as he gave hit films like Airlift and Rustom. Talking about it, he had also said, "2016 has been fantastic, I couldn’t have asked for more... I guess there was more (referring to the award).. I don’t think anything can top this National Award win."
On the day National Film awards were declared, Akshay took to Twitter to give a video message to his fans. He said, "Rustom was a very special role to play. I would like to dedicate this award to my parents, my family and especially my lovely wife who often jokes that it is good that you have stopped going to award shows as you never get an award - khaer, der aaye, durust aaye. Kuch toh aaye."
Apart from Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor also received a special mention for Neerja at National Awards. On the work front, Akshay and Sonam are currently shooting for R Balki's Padman.
