I'd Love to Work with Alia Bhatt & Amitabh Bachchan - Girish Kumar

Actor Girish Kumar, who debuted with Ramaiya Vastavaiya opposite Shruti Haasan, is gearing up for the release of his second film Loveshhuda that releases tomorrow. Ahead of the release, Girish talks to us about his 2nd movie, his desire to work with Amitabh Bachchan, Alia Bhatt and his views on the concept of One Night Stands! Read on...

Ramaiya Vastavaiya released in 2013. You are coming out with Loveshhuda in 2016. What took you so long?

It was the right film. I got 2-3 movies but I didn't really like them and so I refused doing it. I wanted to do good films. The finances were not an issue. I was passionate about acting and hence didn't compromise on script.

What attracted you in Loveshhuda?

The script was fresh and young. I could personally relate to many things in it and I feel when the movie releases this week, many people will find it relatable too. Also, my character is pretty interesting.

Like your film, has your love story started in bed?

(Laughs) Some things have happened in that kind of category but no love story hasn't begun in the bed. 

Your trailer was certified with A certificate because of the word 'Bed'. Your reaction?

I don't know why they took the decision. But I wouldn't want to comment on that since it would complicate things further. But I feel they should be more liberal. We hope to get a U or U/A certificate for the movie because there is nothing as such in the film. Things like these are facts of life. One night stands happen and we should be open about it.

What is your take on One Night Stands?

I mean yeah. If two adults with their own consensus agree in it and are matured enough to handle it then why not. There is no harm in it. There are physical needs as well.

With which actress would you want to have a One Night Stand in Bollywood?

(Laughs) It is probably too early to say something like that. I will get kicked in my face. All of them yeah.. They are so pretty, gorgeous and talented. I am open to everybody if they are willing. I am not choosy.

There were reports that Parineeti Chopra was offered huge amount for this film. But she refused because she didn't like the script. Is it true?

Vijay ji had approached her but Parineeti couldn't do it because her focus was something else at that time. It was amicable and we didn't take it in any other way. And in fact, if I remember properly, then she loved the script and also had few suggestions, which we incorporated despite her not doing the movie. There were no financial discussions at all.

Your song Aaj Phir Peene Ki Tamannaah Hai reminds of the classic song Aaj Phir Jeene Ki Tamannaah Hai. What went into

If you listen to the song, it just has one line. But both the tune and the line is different so there shouldn't be a copyright issue. There have been so many songs which have a striking resemblance with each other. In fact, recently there was a Shahid Kapoor song Dhating Dhating Dhating Dhating Naach and then there was Gandi Gandi Gandi Gandi Gandi Baat. You feel they are similar but no they are different.

What has been your father's reaction to the movie?

Dad has seen the rushes and he is positive about the movie. He has liked it so let's see.

One actor and actress you are keen on working with?

I would love to work with Amitabh Bachchan, Alia Bhatt. 

And director?

In directors I admire Zoya Akhtar, Ayan Mukerji and Rajkumar HIrani. They are so wonderful and talented.

Your upcoming projects?

I am checking scripts. Will announce once things fall in place.
