Taron Egerton is rumoured to replace Hugh Jackman as the new Wolverine in the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe).

With Avengers: Endgame, we had to say goodbye to several beloved MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) superheroes like Iron Man and Captain America. However, Marvel Studios is already working on a new future for the next several phases of the MCU, which also includes bringing in the X-Men, after Disney's recent acquisition of 20th Century Fox. One mutant in paticular that has been making buzz of a possible return, while in a new avatar, is Wolverine. Hugh Jackman immortalised the character of Logan, who became a fan favourite in the X-Men franchise.

Recently, rumours have been rife that Hugh's Eddie The Eagle (2016) co-star Taron Egerton is being considered to take up the mantle as the new Wolverine. Addressing said rumours at ACE Comic Con, Taron shared his bafflement over the casting speculations. "I think that I love those films and I've got lots of friends who play roles in those films and they love it and they have a great time... I don't know. I think the Logan thing is really interesting. I'm slightly baffled by it, I've never felt like a Wolverine sort of guy," Egerton confessed.

Four years ago, whilst filming Eddie The Eagle, @thehughjackman said to me ‘I’m doing a touring a show in couple of years. Will you come out and do a number?’ I said yes, thinking he would forget. He didn’t. Hugh, you are a one in a million. Your show tonight was extraordinary. Your taste, your humility, your generosity and your warmth... That was one of the most inspiring, exhilarating and extraordinary performances I have ever seen. Thank you for letting me be a small part of it. What an experience. Never did I dream that I would get the chance to sing in front of 19,000 people at the O2 arena. And thank you @eltonjohn and @bernietaupinofficial for letting me sing Your Song. Hugh. I am walking on air. Thank you, you wonderful man. Photo credit: my old friend, Brian Rao, Hugh’s bud and bodyguard.

However, the 29-year-old actor was quick to point out that Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios, had earlier mentioned that the X-Men introduction could be a few years away. For the Rocketman star, the "few years away" is a good thing as it will give him some time to look "rough enough" to play Wolverine, as we have seen with Jackman's avatar.

"I've made no secret of the fact that I'm a fan of those fans and of course I would, I would love to be a part of them," Taron shared.
