Taron Egerton gets the seal of approval from Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld as the next Wolverine

Taron Egerton is currently riding high on the success of his latest release, Rocketman. The actor, who was previously known for his roles in the Kingsman franchise and Billionaire Boys Club (2018), put on the sparkling shoes of legendary musician Elton John and portrayed his life on the silver screen. His performance was praised by critics while the Dexter Fletcher directorial was also a commercial hit. Now, Taron's name is popping up as the next replacement for his Eddie The Eagle's (2016) co-star Hugh Jackman's Wolverine.

While no official confirmation has been made yet, the rumours have been rife since the past few days. Jackman said goodbye to his iconic character when he starred in Logan (2017). 20th Century Fox has officially been acquired by Disney and X-Men is now in the hands of the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe). Hence, Egerton's name has been added to the mix. Taron has gotten the seal of approval from one Mr. Rob Liefeld, creator of Marvel characters like Deadpool and Cable.

Rob took to his Instagram page to share a couple of selfies with Egerton, which were taken during a San Diego Comic-Con 2019 after-party and wrote, "Outstanding @taron.egerton looking just like the spitting image of Logan/Wolverine himself! He was buffed out, had the spikey hair and the stubble, I was like “are the rumors true, is this the next Wolverine??” Having depicted Wolverine many times, I can tell you he was spot on! I was completely sold! And what a tremendous talent! Catch Rocket Man while you can!"

Meanwhile, Egerton's Rocketman co-star Richard Madden is now a part of the MCU as Ikaris in The Eternals. We will have to wait and watch to see if Taron follows suit.
