Hollywood veteran and Taken actor Liam Neeson recently expressed his excitement over the re-opening of New York City movie theatres. The actor even said that he will personally be at a theatre today to greet moviegoers seeing his new film. The 68-year-old actor’s movie The Marksman will be playing at the AMC Lincoln Square theatre and he will be at an evening showing on Friday to greet moviegoers before the film begins.

“This is one for the diary,” Liam told THR. “It will be nice to welcome people. I think going to the cinema is a bit of a sacred experience. I’ve felt that way since I was a kid.”

For the unversed, the Marksman has been playing in theatres since mid-January and it has grossed over USD 16 million worldwide so far, though it still hasn’t played in many key markets like New York City. The movie narrates a tale of a rancher on the Arizona border who becomes the unlikely defender of a young Mexican boy desperately fleeing the cartel assassins who’ve pursued him into the U.S.

“The reopening of New York is a strong symbolic gesture to the theatre-going audience that it is okay to put your toe in the water,” Tom Ortenberg, chief of Open Road/Briarcliff, the film’s U.S. distributor told THR.
