Joe Russo REVEALS he's 'really excited' for sequel to Chris Hemsworth's Extraction; Hints at filming location
During a recent interview, Joe Russo gave a short but exciting update about Extraction 2, which will mostly star Chris Hemsworth reprising his role as Tyler Rake.
When Chris Hemsworth starrer Extraction released last year, the action flick registered the biggest feature film premiere in Netflix's history as the Sam Hargrave directorial was watched by 99 million households in its first four weeks of release. Back then, Hemsworth had shared his excitement about the happy news on Instagram with a video message as he teased, "There’s been a lot of talk about sequels and prequels, and all I can say is who knows, but with this kind of support, it’s something I would be pretty stoked to jump back into."
Pretty quickly came the confirmation news about another instalment in the works with Joe Russo back in the writer's chair while Hargrave will mostly be back as director. While Chris is yet to confirmed to reprise his role as the wicked mercenary Tyler Rake, the ending sequence of Extraction made ways for a potential return. Giving us a short yet exciting update about Extraction's sequel is Joe, who is also amongst the producers as well along with his brother Anthony Russo aka Russo Brothers.
While promoting his and Anthony's latest directorial Cherry starring Tom Holland with Nova's Samllzy Surgery via Just Jared, Joe teased, "We’re really excited about Extraction 2," before adding how he thinks "part of that film will actually be shot in Australia as well." "Australia" could very well be a tease by Joe about Chris signing on to Extraction 2, given it's his hometown and that's where the 37-year-old actor is currently shooting for Thor: Love and Thunder.

Meanwhile, in January, Pinkvilla had revealed to readers that a prequel revolving around Randeep Hooda's Extraction character was in the works. Hooda played Saju Rav, who was imprisoned crime lord Ovi Mahajan Sr.'s (Pankaj Tripathi) Head of Security. Moreover, Extraction also starred Rudhraksh Jaiswal as Mahajan Sr.'s son Ovi, who Tyler is recruited to rescue from Dhaka, Bangladesh.
