Game of Thrones season 8: Jon Snow and Arya Stark romancing? George RR Martin's twisted plans revealed

There have been some bizarre combinations in Game of Thrones. Be it Cersei and Jamie Lannister or Sansa Stark and Ramsay Bolton, there are some unusual combinations. While we've accepted it as we entered Game of Thrones season 8, there was one combination that George RR Martin penned down in his book which would honestly be weird for us to watch on the show. The Game of Thrones creator reportedly had Jon Snow, played by Kit Harington on the show, and Arya Stark, played by Maisie Williams in the series, to romance in the books.

If the makers had followed the book completely, it wouldn't been Jon and Daenerys Targaryen that would have got fans talking on GoT. It would have been Jon and his cousin Arya who would have left fans eye popping with their blooming romance.

As per The Independent, when Martin was outlining the story for "A Song of Ice and Fire", as part of the Game of Thrones book series, he intended on making Arya fall for Jon. Martin planned on making Arya fall in love with Snow after she joined him at the Wall. The story also kept mother Catelyn and brother Bran alive and standing beside Jon at the Wall.

"Wounded by Lannister riders, they will seek refuge at the Wall, but the men of the Night's Watch give up their families when they take the black, and Jon and Benjen will not be able to help, to Jon's anguish. It will lead to a bitter estrangement between Jon and Bran. Arya will be more forgiving until she realises, with terror, that she has fallen in love with Jon, who is not only her half-brother but a man of the Night's Watch, sworn to celibacy," the plot read.

"Their passion will continue to torment Jon and Arya throughout the trilogy until the secret of Jon's true parentage is finally revealed in the last book," the story added.

Thank god that the makers did not adapt the exact story line. We cherished Jon and Arya's reunion in the Game of Thrones' season 8 episode 1. What a heartwarming moment it was.
