Game of Thrones makers digitally remove the Starbucks cup from 'The Last of the Starks' episode
Game of Thrones makers have edited out the modern coffee cup from HBO Now and HBO GO edition of the episode. For the unversed, HBO gave out a tongue-in-cheek statement recently on the gaffe.
Game of Thrones season 8 which is the final season of the iconic series was trending recently when eagle-eyed fans pointed out how there was a Starbucks' coffee cup during one of the scenes from the episode 4. Now, latest reports suggest that the cup which was mistakenly left has been removed digitally by the makers.
The makers have edited out the modern coffee cup from HBO Now and HBO GO edition of the episode. For the unversed, HBO gave out a tongue-in-cheek statement recently on the gaffe. The statement read as, "The latte that appeared in the episode was a mistake. Daenerys had ordered a herbal tea."
Starbucks grabbed the opportunity and plugged in their new product. They tweeted as, "TBH we're surprised she didn't order a Dragon Drink. Hauke Richter, the art director of the series told TMZ that the cup wasn't from Starbucks but from a local coffee shop in Northern Ireland. He also said that it was indeed an accident. He said, "We are usually so diligent that this does not happen. The shoot was very hard and demanding and it is likely that after a very tiring ep 3 shoot, this was simply overlooked by an exhausted crew."
Many expressed shock and made fun of the same. One of the Twitter users said, "You're telling me they had TWO YEARS to put together a decent show and they couldn't even spot the goddamn Starbucks cup in Winterfell??!?!". Tweeted another, "Imagine HBO spending millions on every single episode and being done over by a single coffee cup. Guess Dany didn't get the memo about reusable chalices #GameofThrones."
