Shahid Kapur wants to shed romantic image
Bollywood actor Shahid Kapur says he needs to move away from his image as a romantic hero on the silver screen.
Kapur, 26, in an interview to a Daily, that his father and well-known actor Pankaj Kapur also was keen for him to take on different roles.
``I want to do a variety of roles,'' Kapur told the daily in an interview published Friday. ``My father too wants me to play a variety of characters.''
His movie about arranged marriages ``Vivaah,''last year was a box office hit. Kapur's first attempt away from romance roles will hit theaters next month with the vibrant comedy ``Fool and Final.''
``Though the characters in the film find the situations serious, they turn out to be funny for the audience,'' Kapur said about his new film. ``There is also action, but it's not gruesome.''
He performed his own stunts in the movie, including riding a bicycle down a cloth banner strung from a 16-story building.
In the movie, Kapur is part of a gang involved in a diamond heist that clashes with another gang while the loot is being shipped from the Middle East to India.
Kapur has acted in 10 movies since his 2003 debut.
