John abraham launches Ungli Utha Bindas
UTV Bindass today launches a movement that India has long been waiting for - a movement reaching out to young Indians who are discontent and want to make a change for when 'You' Change, India CHANGES. Inspired by the lines of the father of the nation 'Be the change you want to see in the World', UTV Bindass is urging the Indian Youth to participate in the process of creating a change. While UTV Bindass would look at various issues that affect the youth of today like Global Warming, Corruption, etc, the first initiative under this movement is 'Voting'. Some shocking statistics led UTV Bindass to spearhead this particular initiative, keeping in mind that elections are around the corner: ·30% of the total voting population is within the age group of 18-30 years ·25% of this population are registered as Voters ·Off this base only 50% VOTE! This is JUST 12.5% of the Youth Voting Population Base. To create awareness regarding voting and the importance of each vote UTV Bindass is flagging off with an unique initiative called Ungli Utha Bindass, which will educate young Indians on the power of voting - exercising a basic fundamental right. Ungli Utha Bindass would be a 360° campaign across the country to create awareness about the importance of voting. One of India's top youth icons, John Abraham has agreed to join hands with UTV Bindass for the I Change - India Changes movement. He flagged off the Ungli Utha Bindass initiative through a road show at the archetypal Horniman Circle Gardens. Along with the on ground initiatives which are partnered with PVR- Official Multiplex, Planet M ... On ground and apparel partner. It would be a nation wide 360°campaign to reach out through all mediums and remind people to vote. A website www.bindass.tv/ichange, will provide a platform for Indians to voice their opinions and have relevant information regarding the elections like Know your Neta, wherein profiles of politicians are uploaded, interactive sections like videos, etc. I Change's website has tied up with Jaago Re website, enabling use of the Jaago Re platform to power voter registrations, provide important information on voting such as myths and FAQs as well as some important tools such as latest election news, etc. In order to seek involvement from the youth UTV Bindass is introducing an initiative called Natak Kar, Desh Badal (Bindass Campus Theatre). Under this initiative UTV Bindass will invite colleges from across 6 cities in the country to present street plays on the initiative of ?Voting?. The theatre festival has begun call for entries and over 70 colleges from across the country have confirmed participation. Each city would be adjudged by a panel of renowned celebrities, social activists and distinguished theater personalities. One finalist from each city would be selected and the winners will get a chance to express their views directly to the country?s Prime Minister!! A DVD of the winning performance will be shown exclusively to the PM. These 6 finalists would also get to showcase their skits to a panel of youth parliamentarians of the country. Speaking on the occasion John Abraham said, 'I have always believed in the power of the youth and the contribution they can make to the system as they are the future. Today I have joined hands with UTV Bindass for I Change - India Changes for their first campaign Ungli Utha Vote Kar to urge the youth of the country to come forward and exercise their right. I am happy that UTV Bindass has taken on this huge responsibility of leading the youth of India through their movement and more importantly provide a platform where the youth can express themselves. I would like once again reiterate the importance of the role that today?s youth can play in making this country a better place. I humbly request one and all to join hands with Ungli Utha Vote Kar, let?s do it and let?s do it together!' Zarina Mehta, CEO, Bindass, said, 'We, at Bindass, have always strived to be very receptive to the emotions of the country's youth. The youth feel there is a very strong need for a change however it's always easy to blame the system and not take responsibility. Under this initiative we are, for the first time, urging the youth to be participative in the change they want to see and providing them a platform to express themselves on issues that affect them the most. With the elections around the corner 'Voting' was an obvious choice under the movement I Change - India Changes. After voting we would continue to identify issues that affect the youth and create platforms for their opinions and action. In this initiative the 'buck stops at me'. UTV Bindass aims to target critical issues like Global Warming, Corruption and a host of others in the future by urging the youth of the country, to be the drivers of the change they want to see. The time has come for the youth of India to come to forefront... To believe in themselves and take India to that place which we all have dreamt. Be the change you want to see, I change -Indian Changes
