After having won the Miss India –Universe title and sizzled on the small screen in music videos, the lady is all set to set the big screen on fire with Fardeen Khan in Janasheen. Needless to say her curves and toned body can give any heroine a run for her money
What is your philosophy on food and health?
Eating wisely will always keep you fit and fine. Smoking, drinking excessively and taking drugs are all the worst form of body abuse. To enjoy yourself you don't have to weigh down on your health and body.
Going by your perfect figure, it seems you are a fitness freak.
I guess I have to give credit to my mother for this because she has always been very particular about my food habits. Also it's more of a genetic or hormonal thing with me. I have never had the tendency to put on kilos. I do exercise but not like a freak.
What do you eat during the day?
Anything which is nutritional is OK with me. Since I belong to Kolkata, I freak out on fish at times. When there is work at hand, I hardly think of feeding myself and that I think is not a very healthy practice. I must take care of that. Usually my lunches consist of a few ghee free chapattis, a vegetable, a dal and definitely loads of salads. If possible I down it with good fruit juice.
Do hectic working schedules play havoc with your system?
That I guess is natural if you are working round the clock. That's the reason I never overload myself with work. After all taking care of oneself is also very important. Good work keeps me fit. I cannot imagine not working. But whenever I can, I manage to stick to a regime.
Do you binge on food?
Yes at times when I am with my family and we are having a good time. But I will not call that bingeing, it's more of fun.
What is your all time favourite food?
Home made food because that is slowly becoming the most difficult thing I can lay my hands on. Anything made tastefully at home is a delight. I am very fond of paneer.
How do you rejuvenate?
I’ve noticed I feel excellent when I am by the sea. A good body massage or a soothing pedicure also helps me.
What is your advice on food and fitness for the health conscious?
Food and fitness depends on the way you think. Mind and body work in tandem with each other and surprisingly we tend to ignore health the most. If you are a person who uses his mind a lot, you need to take care of your body and vice versa.
If you were to create awareness on one health-related topic, what would it be?
I think I'll want to create awareness about the rising number of cases of breast cancer among women in India. Females are so prone to sacrificing that they seldom take care of themselves. Good food habits and regular check ups will surely help all women distance themselves from this woeful health disorder.
