Ash adds spices to Incredible India @ 60 in NY
In his over 80 trips to India in the last 30 years, Steve McCurry has fallen in love with everything Indian.
The culture, the monuments, the colours in Rajasthan and even Bollywood. And that's why when he chose 35 pictures for the Incredible India @ 60 celebrations in New York Aishwarya Rai made it to the exhibition.
It’s a picture of Aishwarya that was taken way before her brush with fame.
“A friend of mine told me there's this model and you should take her photograph because she's so beautiful. So I shot her without really knowing her and much before she became a superstar,” he says.
For McCurry watching from a distance the journey of an unknown Aishwarya to now a name to reckon with has been amusing in itself. McCurry has never made an attempt to either publish the picture or even send it across to Aishwarya.
“She's never seen it. I had forgotten that I even had a her picture till I came across it while editing,” he says.
But that was in the past. Steve McCurry who is now extensively covering Buddhism in India will soon be coming out with his favourite pictures of India in a book form.
That is to mark the 60 years of Indian Independence. And Aishwarya will make it into the folds of his book.
“I will definitely put her in my India book and hopefully she'll appreciate it,” he says.
She's one of the best known ambassadors of India and he is someone who is known for his romance with India.
And when the two come together in Steve McCurry's forthcoming book on India @ 60, there is little doubt that this script will be a sure shot hit.
