Rangoon to Raabta, here's the half yearly report of 2017's flop films
Here is the half yearly report of 2017's flop movies in Bollywood.
It's already six months into 2017 and while the Hindi dubbed version of Baahubali: The Conclusion gave the much-needed respite to the showbiz industry, films starring superstars too failed to leave a mark at the box office in the first half of the year.
The half-yearly report of the Hindi film industry, in particular, has been seemingly poor. What really is a matter of concern for the trade is when a Tubelight starring Salman Khan also fails to do wonders at the box office.
While Tubelight has gone on to do an average business, here is a list of films which tanked at the box office rather miserably!
1. Bank Chor- This comedy-thriller starring Riteish Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi, and Rhea Chakraborty was made on a budget of around INR 15 crore. However, the film only managed to collect around INR 7.30 crore which is not even half of its budget total.

2. Raabta- Based on the plot of reincarnation, this tale of Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon was made on a massive budget of INR 50 crore but the film couldn't manage to recover half of it.

3. Behen Hogi Teri: Starring Rajkummar Rao and Shruti Haasan, this rom-com despite opening to good reviews failed to perform well. It was made on the budget of INR 15 crore and could only collect around INR 2 crores.

4. Meri Pyaari Bindu: MPB starred Ayushmann Khurrana and Parineeti Chopra in the lead roles and is said to have suffered massively at the box office because of the Baahubali fever. Made on a budget of INR 22 crores, the film only managed to recover INR 10 crores.

5. Sarkar 3: Ram Gopal Varma promised that Amitabh Bachchan was back angrier than ever in this flick, however, despite all the hype, the movie tanked miserably. Starring Manoj Bajpayee, Amit Sadh, Yami Gautam among others, the movie which as made on a budget of INR 35 crores could only collect INR 9.94 crores.

6. Noor: Considered as one of the biggest flops in Sonakshi Sinha's career, Noor revolved around the life of a journalist. It was made on the budget of INR 19 crores, collected only INR 07.58 crores at the box office.

7. Rangoon: This was one of the earlier blow to the film industry. Starring Saif Ali Khan, Kangana Ranaut and Shahid Kapoor, the movie set in the era of World War II failed to do wonders. The film was made on a budget of INR 80 crore and satellite, digital and music rights were sold in INR 15 crore. So, to break even, the film had to earn INR 65 crore. But, the film could only manage to collect INR 21.57 crore at the box office.

8. OK Jaanu: Produced jointly by Karan Johar and Mani Ratnam, Ok Jaanu is the remake of successful Tamil film from 2015, Ok Kanmani. Ok Jaanu stars the Aashiqui 2 stars Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead roles. Made with a budget of INR 28 crore, Ok Jaanu couldn't even manage to earn to recover the cost of production. It collected INR 23.64 crore.

9. Aa Gaya Hero: Govinda's comeback Aa Gaya Hero had to return to the pavilion before even making 10 runs on the field. The film was made on a budget of INR 8 crore, but could only earn INR 1.30 crore at the box office.

10. Machine: Directed by Abbas Mustan, Machine features Kiara Advani, Carla Dennis, Eshaan Shankar & Mustafa in lead roles. The film couldn't make a mark and even viewers weren't interested watching the film. Made on a budget INR 25 crore, the film could only earn INR 3.12 crore at the box office.

With major releases lined up for the second half, we only hope that the trade picks up.
