Patty Jenkins has managed to break box office records for a female director, after Wonder Woman had a super opening week.
The Warner Bros/DC film, starring Gal Gadot, earned a total of $223m, with $100.5m of that amount coming from the United States. This made Jenkins the record holder of the biggest US opening ever made by a female director. Her record beat the $85.2m one, set by Sam Taylor Johnson's Fifty Shades Of grey.
According to reports from a leading daily, the film debuted at number one in many countries, including China, where its $38m total made it the fourth largest opening of all time at the country’s box office. In the UK, the film took a total of £5.82m.
The weekend earnings of the film has ensured that it comfortably leads as compared to the lifetime frosses of any previous female-directed superhero movie. The film also performed better at the global box office than several other successful superhero films, including Guardians of the Galaxy and the first two Iron Man and Captain America movies.
Awesome ratings and reviews from critics around the globe, Wonder Woman has truly exceed all DC fans and has raised the bar for other superhero filmmakers, quite a bit. If you haven't checked out Gal Gadot's awe-striking performance as Diana, you're definitely missing out on something big!
