Bollywood's one hit wonders!

Bollywood is the place where dreams come true, for many aspiring stars. Many a time, with a stroke of luck, they also manage to arrive with a bang. However, their career thereon goes downhill. Let us take a look at such stars who arrived with a bang but then phased out. 

Sneha Ullal

Ullal made her movie debut in the 2005 Hindi movie Lucky: No Time for Love opposite Salman Khan. After the movie, she was noted for her striking similarities in appearance with Aishwarya Rai. She later said that although the comparison didn't help her as an actor, it gave her a lot of recognition. Ullal then appeared with Khan's brother Sohail Khan in Aryan, which did not do well at the box office. Well, after this things never looked up for Ms Ullal, as far as Bollywood is concerned. 

Jiah Khan

Jiah made her film debut in the 2007 Ram Gopal Verma film Nishabd for which she was nominated for Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. At the time Jiah was being touted as the next big thing. However, things did not look too great for Jiah though she did appear in the Aamir Khan starrer Ghajini. Jiah's case turned tragic when she took her own life in the summer of 2013. 

Gracy Singh

Gracy is best known for her role as Gauri in Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India. She began her career touring with the dance group "The Planets" and her first acting role was in the television soap, Amanat. She then got an acting role in the film Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain (as Kajol's younger sister) and also in Hu Tu Tu. This finally led her to her role opposite Aamir Khan in Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India where she played a village belle. She was nominated in this role for the Filmfare best debut actress award. Gracy also went on to star in the Sanjay Dutt movie 'Munnai Bhai MBBS'. However, Gracy's stardom, at least in Bollywood, went for a toss thereon. 

Bhagyashree

We all know that Bhagyashree is best known for her role in the 1989 blockbuster film Maine Pyaar Kiya with Salman Khan.However, the actress chose to enter holy matrimony even as she saw much success in her very first film. After marriage, Bhagyashree announced that she would continue to act, but only with her husband Himalaya Dasani. The husband-wife did star in some films which flopped miserably. 

Rahul Roy

Rahul Roy is the original Aashiqui boy and became famous after his debut in the hit Mahesh Bhatt production Aashiqui (1990). However, Rahul did not experience a lot of success in Bollywood after that. 

Neil Nitin mukesh

Neil made his debut in Sriram Raghavan's 2007 critically acclaimed thriller Johnny Gaddaar, which earned him a Filmfare Best Male Debut Award nomination. At the time, Neil was touted as the next big thing in Bollywood. He did experience some success in the Kabir Khan movie 'New York'. However, Neil did not achieve the kind of stardom that everybody thought he would. However, he will soon be seen in the Salman Khan - Sonam Kapoor starrer 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo'. 

Shamita Shetty

This younger sister of Shilpa Shetty made her film debut in 2000 with the Yash Raj Films blockbuster Mohabbatein, which was directed by Aditya Chopra. Her portrayal of Ishika earned her and her fellow co-stars Kim Sharma and Preeti Jhangiani the 2001 IIFA Award for Star Debut of the Year – Female. However, after that it was a string of item numbers for Shamita, who eventually quit acting. 

Gayathri Joshi

She made her Bollywood debut in December 2004 in Ashutosh Gowarikar’s film Swades opposite Shah Rukh Khan. Swades received strong acclaim from Indian film critics and Joshi received several citations as best Female Newcomer in film awards for 2004. However, Gayathri did not pursue her Bollywood career actively after that.

Bhumika Chawla

After a number of critically and commercially successful films in the South, Chawla starred in her first Bollywood film, Tere Naam (2003), alongside Salman Khan. The film was one of the year's highest grossers. It was a critical success and her performance in the film won her many positive notices as well as several nominations for Best Debut at different award ceremonies. She was nominated for her first Filmfare Best Actress Award and won the Best Debut trophy at the Zee Cine Awards ceremony. However, that was sadly also the end of Bhumika's successful stint in Bollywood. 

Anu Aggarwal

Anu Agarwal is the original Aashiqui girl. Though she saw much success with this Mahesh Bhatt movie, Anu did not have a fruitful career in Bollywood. She also experienced some personal tragedies in life. However, she is now happy and content, and living life to the fullest.
