Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham is that one movie that all of us swear by, irrespective of our age. As Parineeti Chopra clearly stated that it is “holy”, it is a flawless piece which just cannot have any mistakes and is a cult. From “it is all about loving your family” to “Rahul and Anjali’s incomparable chemistry, from the foot-tapping songs that all of us have danced to on our annual concerts to the super intense emotional scenes and finally the hilarious dialogues, this movie I repeat is "holy".
So let’s take you through the ten funniest scenes from the movie:
Ashfaq Miyan
The introductory scene between Rahul and Anjali where the latter mistakes him for being Ashfaq Miyan (a guy who was to come see Rukhsar for marriage) is funny beyond words. Anjali doesn't let Rahul finish his sentences and boasts about her hilarious poetic skills only to realise that he is Rahul Raichand, Yash Raichand’s son. This scene completely belongs to Kajol as the actress nails it with her flawless acting.
Gamla Scene
This super hilarious scene when Anjali (Kajol) breaks a flower pot during Yash Raichand’s (Amitabh Bachchan’s) birthday party is a complete laugh out loud moment. What makes it funnier is the next scene in which Anjali comes to the Raichand household along with Daijaan to apologise, only to break another one as she turns around in a rush.
Rahul, take a chill pill
This scene takes place when Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan) along with Anjali, Daijaan and Pooja (Kareena Kapoor Khan) move to London. Anjali, being the super desi wife and mom, keeps singing patriotic songs to which Rahul and their son scream, “Mom, take a chill pill”. Cut to Poo who walks down the stairs wearing a backless top. Rahul immediately calls Daijaan and Anjali to ask them about what she is wearing to which they hit back saying,”Rahul, take a chill pill.”
Comic Reunion between Rohan and the Haldiram’s
Rohan (Hrithik Roshan) comes back to Chandni Chowk to get details about his elder brother Rahul and his family. This whole scene is a laughter riot which Johnny Lever aces with his impeccable comic timing.
The conversation between Rohan and Poo before the prom night
This extremely funny scene before the prom night will leave you in splits. Rohan stops Poo and seductively pulls her close, giving rise to her hopes only to tell her that she is wearing two different shoes.
Bharat halwai ki dukaan
Anjali, hands down, is the funniest character in the movie and Kajol nails it with complete conviction. This scene between Anjali and Ruksar where the latter is hinting that Rahul is maybe in love with her and Anjali instead thinks that he wants to steal her sweet shop (read: Bharat Halwaai). Cut to when Anjali and Rahul are walking in the mela (fun fair) and Anjali tells Rahul that she cannot give the sweet shop to him and that he needs to back off, will never not be funny.
When Rohan rates Poo
The scene wherein Kareena strolls with her friends and rates every passing guy is a cult classic. Rohan then walks up to Kareena, rates her and walks away with swag.
Chacha Sachin
This mad scene involves Ashfaq's family who come to meet Ruksar to ask her hand in marriage. Simultaneously, Anjali from her window gestures to Ruksar that India won the cricket match and that Sachin scored a century. To this, Ruksar exclaims out loud and hence Daijaan has to cover up for Ruksar.
Phir shuru ho gayi Madonna
Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, even with their one-liners, manage to tickle your funnybones. This scene takes place after Rohan moves into their house and both Rohan and Poo sing the morning aarti (prayer) to which Rahul gets irritated while he is in bed saying, “Phir shuru ho gayi Madonna” only to see that Anjali is still sleeping next to him.
I don't like you
Karan Johar brings back the Kuch Kuch Hota Hai essence with this one scene. Anjali punctures Rahul’s car tyre just for fun and Rahul gets extremely irritated with it to which he hits back saying, “I don't like jokes” and she retaliates saying, “I don't like you.”
