BTS to join POTUS Joe Biden in the White House to discuss Anti-Asian hate crimes
They will also celebrate the AANHPI heritage month.
BTS is set to leave for the US soon. According to media reports on May 26, South Korean supergroup BTS will be heading to the White House on May 31. They will join the President of the United States, Joe Biden, for a discussion on Asian inclusion and representation. It is also known that topics of Anti-Asian hate crimes and discrimination based on colour will be a part of the agenda.
The move comes to close off the month of May, which is regarded as the Asian American Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islanders Heritage Month (AANHPI Heritage Month). Joe Biden and BTS are set to discuss the importance of diversity across the world.
BTS has been at the forefront of the ‘LOVE YOURSELF’ campaign alongside UNICEF to speak against violence and have previously given speeches at the United Nations General Assembly three times underscoring the importance of an all-accepting world. They also donated towards the Black Lives Matter movement in June 2020 saying, “We stand against racial discrimination. We condemn violence. You, I and we all have the right to be respected. We will stand together.”
During their first speech in 2018 at the UNGA, leader RM spoke eloquently, urging people to speak about themselves. A couple years later as the globe struggled with COVID-19 all seven members virtually spoke about their hurdles and encouraged everyone to dream and live on. Last year, marking their third invite to the assembly, now as the Special Presidential Envoy for Future Generations and Culture, BTS talked about the pandemic, youth and the value of besting climate change. Following their powerful and inspiring talks, BTS is expected to once again engage in meaningful conversation with POTUS Joe Biden.
Set to release their anthology album 'Proof' on June 10, BTS announced a remix of their songs ‘FAKE LOVE’, ‘Life Goes On’ and ‘Blood Sweat & Tears’ releasing on May 27.
