Simran vs Lucknow Central Day 1 Box Office Collection: Kangana Ranaut's film races ahead of Farhan Akhtar-starrer

Kangana Ranaut's film Simran and Farhan Akhtar's Lucknow Central have finally released yesterday and both had a slow start at the box office. But, it's Kangana Ranaut's film which has taken the lead at the ticket windows.
According to trade site, Simran has earned INR 2.50 crore at the box office and going by production figures, the film minted INR 2.77 crore. It released in 1200 screens across India. Ranaut plays the character of a Gujarati NRI in Simran. "It is a character that Kangana is playing (a robber). And this character is lovable. And even if she is doing any crime, you feel concerned for her. It is a human story and crime is never justified. There should be redemption towards the end. It is a journey and crime is just a part of the journey," the director Hansal Mehta had said in an interview with a leading agency.
Farhan Akhtar's film released in 800 screens and earned INR 1.75 crore on its Day 1. In the film, the actor plays the role of Kishen Mohan Girhotra, an aspiring Bhojpuri singer who is a big fan of Manoj Tiwari. He stays in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh.
Talking about the early estimates, Akshaye Rathi had told us, "Both Simran and Lucknow Central will not open big at the box office. The collections will be between Rs 2-2.5 crore on the opening day for Simran as well as Lucknow Central. Both films have been made with a limited budget and will rely on word of mouth to grow their box office collections."
