Kangana Ranaut's Simran has finally hit the screens today. The talented National award winning actress will be seen essaying the role of an NRI Gujarati in the film. The character is based on the real life story of Sandeep Kaur who is currently serving a 66-month jail-term in America for looting banks across three states.

There have been many controversies around the film and during the film’s promotions, Kangana’s personal life got all the limelight, owing to her explosive revelations on a talk-show.

Now the occupancy report is out and according to a trade site, the film opened on a dull note. It scored only 8-10% in the morning shows.

Other than Simran, Farhan Akhtar's Lucknow Central has also hit the screens today.  In the film, the multitalented actor plays the role of Kishen Mohan Girhotra, an aspiring Bhojpuri singer who is a big fan of Manoj Tiwari. He stays in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh.

The film also opened on low note getting an occupancy rate similar like that of Simran. Talking about the box office occupancy collection, trade analyst Akshay Rathi exclusively told us, "Both Simran and Lucknow Central will not open big at the box office. The collections will be between Rs 2-2.5 crore on an opening day for Simran as well as Lucknow Central. Both films have been made with a limited budget and will rely on word of mouth to grow their box office collections."

Which film are you rooting for - Simran or Lucknow Central?
