Sanjay Dutt's Bhoomi, Shraddha Kapoor's Haseena Parkar and Rajkummar Rao's Newton released on September 22 (yesterday) and all the films are battling it out at the box office. Going by the box office numbers, Bhoomi is racing ahead of Haseena Parkar and Newton. On Day 1, Bhoomi earned around INR 2 crore. While Haseena Parkar minted INR 1.25 crore, Newton stands at INR 85 lacs. Talking about Newton, the film got only 300 screens and if you compare it with Bhoomi's 1500 screens and Haseena Parkar's 1000 screens, Rajkummar's film has done comparatively well.

Bhoomi stars Sanjay Dutt and Aditi Rao Hydari in the lead roles. The film is a revenge drama which explores the relationship between a father and a daughter. Sanjay Dutt had earlier stated, “Bhoomi has been an incredible journey. It has been great to face the cameras after a while. Feels great to be back and Bhoomi is a film that you definitely appreciate.”

Haseena Parkar, which stars Shraddha Kapoor and Siddhanth Kapoor, is based on Dawood Ibrahim's sister. At the trailer launch of Haseena Parkar, Shraddha had said, "It's difficult for me to express my experience in words for Haseena Parkar. This has been a very exciting and challenging role for me. To play a role of such a strong person... for this true story, it has been a very emotionally challenging experience. When I heard the story and the script of the film, at first I was scared of the challenge. But it was Haseena's story and everything that happened in her life... made me so interested in the film. To be able to play such a real-life strong character was huge. I loved the story, I loved the script. If my director thinks I can do it, then I have to trust him. That's how I took this role."

Coming to Newton, the film stars the National-award winning actor Rajkummar Rao. The film has been appreciated by both the audience and the crtics. The film revolves around a government clerk who tries to conduct fair voting on an election day amid the fear of guerrilla attacks and apathy of security forces. Newton  has been selected as India's official entry to the Oscars. We got in touch with Rajkummar who was super excited about the reaction the audience has been giving to his film. While confirming the report, he told us, "It's India's official entry to the Oscars. It's true. I am elated and super thrilled that we made this film with so much love and passion. I am so glad that people are appreciating that effort and are recognizing the sincerity of a non-theatre film."
