Box Office Report: Munna Michael witnesses a poor weekend; Lipstick Under My Burkha shows a growth on Day 3
Here's how Lipstick Under My Burkha and Munna Michael performed on day 3 of its release.
This week witnessed two releases at the box office in Bollywood. While one is a mass entertainer Munna Michael starring Tiger Shroff and Nidhhi Aggerwal, the other one is the much-talked about movie Lipstick Under My Burkha starring Konkona Sen Sharma, Ratna Pathak Shah, Plabita Borthakur and Aahana Kumra.
On the day 3, Munna Michael earned INR 8 crore and in total earned INR 20.62 crore at the ticket windows. Going by the reviews, the film hasn't impressed the critics.
Earlier, talking about the movie, Tiger spoke about his experience of shooting the film. He told us, "Very challenging, especially the dance sequences as they were intense and were pretty hard on the body but I expect nothing as we are paying a tribute to Michael Jackson."
On the other hand, Lipstick Under My Burkha has impressed the critics with the bold subject. The film starring Konkona Sen Sharma and Ratna Pathak Shah was in the news when CBFC refused to certify the film. The trailer of the film created a buzz all over the news as it was bold and the movie is about four women who are leading four separate battles for their freedom.
The film has registered a staggering INR 2.41 crore on Sunday. In total, it has earned INR 5.8 crore at the box office. With the film being made on a tight budget of INR 6 crore including P&A, this one's sure to do well at the box office!
Meanwhile, Jagga Jasoos dropped badly on the second weekend. In total, the film only managed to earn INR 48.77 crore. Talking about the film's failure, Ranbir's father Rishi said, "Sometimes, Ranbir's films do well, sometimes, they don't. But here, Ranbir is the producer too, and his neck is in the noose. Who the hell are you (Basu) to do all this? It is ridiculous that a producer hadn't seen his product a day ahead of the film's release. You may be the biggest director in the world but nobody would like to work with you because you are irresponsible. There is somebody else's money involved in this. I trusted you (Basu), and this is what you give us? Ranbir hasn't held back on spending money on it. You (Anurag Basu) even threw Govinda out of the film. If you don't want Govinda to work in your film, why did you ask him in the first place? Iss sab mein Ranbir ka naam toh kharaab hoga, aur kya? Mera kharaab hoga! (With these developments, it's Ranbir and my name that's gathered negative limelight)."
What do you have to say about this?
