Tere Bin Laden and Aligarh Fail To Leave A Mark at the Box Office Window on Day 1

Both Aligarh and Tere Bin Laden – Dead or Alive were highly anticipated releases for the week but unfortunately they have failed to make a mark on the opening day. While Tere Bin Laden – Dead or Alive has grossed approximately 1 crore, Aligarh has failed to make even 50 lakhs on the opening day.

The prequel of Tere Bin Laden released in 2010 and fared much better on the box office as compared to its sequel. Aligarh, on the other hand, was expected to earn less money due to its controversial topic. Even bigger films with homosexual characters are not accepted in India till now, so it’s rare for a film like Aligarh to do well.

However, it’s too soon to predict anything right now. Let’s see if the movies pick up on Sunday or anytime during the week. After all, word of mouth does count.
