Prem Ratan Dhan Payo Witnesses Record Opening at the Box Office

It comes as no surprise that Prem Ratan Dhan Payo recorded a bumper opening at the Domestic Box Office today. The movie which features Salman Khan and Sonam Kapoor in lead roles was amongst one of the most anticipated releases this Year. Most circuits around India witnessed a 70-75% occupancy in early morning shows, and that is only expected to increase as the day goes by. PRDP also had a pretty strong advance booking for the 1st 4 days.
Considering the movie released on a National Holiday, the Day 1 collections are sure to skyrocket and beat the Day 1 Collections of any other movie that released this year. The movie has had a massive release over about 4200 Screens across the country. Prem Ratan Dhan Payo has also released in Tamil and Telugu though the performance ofcourse does not match up with the Hindi version.
It will be interesting to see if the movie beats the Day 1 collection of last years Diwali Release, i.e. Happy New Year. For now the feat looks possibile given the return of Prem but we will have to wait for numbers to roll in through the day.
