Nikhil Advani’s ‘Hero’ starring debutantes Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty which released today got a good opening with a 30% occupancy rate. Produced by Salman Khan, the actor introduced and mentored the star kids hard for this film.
Box Office India has attributed the film's initial success to Salman, who stood firm in supporting the film and the newbies. The other reason for the film to draw crowds is the film's music as quite a few songs are topping the popularity charts. The film got a good opening especially in the Mumbai / Gujarat and CPCI Rajasthan belt while in North India (New Delhi and Punjab) the opening was comparatively low.
On the other hand, ‘Welcome Back’ collected Rs 73.75 crore in Week 1. The film’s collection dropped during the weekdays. Box Office India report stated that the first week collections are the highest ever for a comedy film. The previous best was the 2011 released, Salman Khan-starrer ‘Ready’ which stood at 69 crore nett. Ready was also helmed by the same director, Anees Bazmee.
Now, it remains to be seen how 'Welcome Back' and 'Hero' fare in the coming weeks.
