BLACKPINK's Lovesick Girls made the headlines again, and this time not for a controversy! The music video of BLACKPINK's Lovesick Girls recently hit the 300 million mark on YouTube on December 24th, just two months after it's initial release in October. For the unversed, BLACKPINK originally released the music video for Lovesick Girls on October 2. This new feet became marked the MV as their 9th video to do so, the Lovesick Girls MV joins their previous songs like BOOMBAYAH, As If It’s Your Last, DDU-DU DDU-DU, Playing With Fire, Whistle, Kill This Love, How You Like That, and Ice Cream with Selena Gomez. If you didn’t know, when the MV released back in October, it stirred up quite a storm in the papers. The music video was flooded with controversy post Health and Medical Workers’ Union blasted YG Entertainment for sexually objectifying nurses through the video as Jennie from the group was seen donning a nurse costume in the vid. YG Entertainment then later had to issue a statement addressing the issue, where they apologised and clarified that they will chop Jennie's scene out of the MV. They also said sorry to those who were offended and "felt uncomfortable," because of it. The union accepted the apology later on.

According to Koreaboo, the Health and Medical Workers’ union replied to YG's decision to delete the scene with a statement of their own. And even wished the girls good luck! The union's statement welcomed the changes and appreciated the agency's decision to execute the decision so promptly, they continued to mention that the 440,000 nurses in the union love the band and are cheering for the girls from the sidelines as they continue to grow as global pop stars who represent Korea well.

They concluded their statement by saying, "We hope that BLACKPINK’s decision not only helps nurses but serves as a warning bell for the sexual objectification of certain professions that exist in this society." When the video was released, the union issued a statement objecting the scenes.
