3 Old school beauty tips that WORK and can create wonders for your skin & hair; It’s time you give it a try
As much as you got angry on your grandma and her bizarre beauty tips, they do tend to work a lot. Find out more
Remember how pissed you used to get when your grandma asked you to apply besan packs or oil your mane before a shower? If you’re like me and in your 20’s you’ll realise how good these tips actually were and the kind of difference it makes. To be honest, no amount of expensive skincare or haircare products will help you see the difference as old school remedies did. All you’ll need to believe in them again is not your grandma scolding you but a bit of science and why home remedies were popular.
Ghee for everything

Eat, use it as a lip balm or put it in your hair, ghee has always been a favourite home remedy. It contains good fats that help in keeping the skin and hair moisturised. It is also believed that ghee helps in lightening dark spots and pigmentation. It’s a great home remedy for people who have dry skin and scalp. While keeping the skin moisturised, it also helps in evening out skin texture that effectively remove dark circles.
Cover it up!

While covering up our heads and using a dupatta all the time seems like a very unlikely tradition now. But, it was definitely a great way to keep the skin and hair safe from suntan and pollutants. Whether we believe in traditions or not, we can always use the good aspect and use the little hack to our advantage. A scarf or sunglasses can just do the deed right and you’ll also end up looking fashionable. So that’s a win-win.
Use oil before every bath

Join the club if you were forced to oil your hair every Sunday before you entered the shower. As much as a champi was frowned upon, it really does work wonders. Oiling your hair attracts the dirt and helps get rid of it faster. Plus the excess oil on the scalp makes sure that the shampoo only helps in getting rid of the excess and does not dry up the scalp by stripping it off its natural oils. A few people in southern India also use the technique on their skin to help keep it moisturised and supple even after a shower.
